About Dr. Lenore E. Walker

Educator & Forensic Psychologist

Hi. Welcome to my website. My name is Dr. Lenore Walker and I am pleased to take you on a tour of who I am and what I like to do. I am both an educator and a psychologist who is licensed to practice psychology in several states. I am also Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in clinical and in couples and family psychology, I am usually able to practice in most states and in other countries. I often testify in forensic cases especially those where someone’s state of mind is impacted by gender violence events. In fact, it was my work that introduced Battered Woman Syndrome into the courts back in the 1980s. If you go to the Walker & Associates, LLC page you will find a copy of my most recent resume and learn more about my educational background and current work.  We are known for our BWS evaluations in forensic cases and we have a staff of other psychologists who work with us as a team traveling around to help clients and attorneys with their litigation needs. Their names and resumes are listed here, also.

Recently, I retired as a professor at Nova Southeastern University’s College of Psychology where I spent almost 20 years training doctoral and masters level students in forensic and clinical psychology. I still am doing my research there and if you go to the research page here, you can learn more about the validation of the battered woman syndrome model and a new assessment instrument.

We also have a team validating the Survivor Therapy Empowerment Program (STEP), another working on False Confessions with Women, and yet another, on Sex Trafficking Survivors. You can also view pictures here of my fabulous retirement party where we raised enough money to endow a scholarship for a student who wants to study domestic violence and gender violence issues.

I am also the Director of the Domestic Violence Institute, Inc., a not-for-profit 501.C3 company where our mission is to educate policymakers and communities around the world about domestic violence and other forms of gender violence. We do this through speaking engagements, research consultation, and papers in many different countries as well as here in the U.S. We have affiliate centers in different countries. If you click on this page, we are featuring Dr. Christina Antonopoulou, Dr. Patricia Villavicencio, Dr. Alessandra Pauncz, Dr. Susan Pick, and Dr. Maria Raguz.

A new project that I have begun since retiring from the university is the Innovative Professional CEs where Dr. Rachel Needle and I are developing a trauma certificate with webinars from noted traumatologists. We have videos of their work along with slides and other materials to help mental health professionals sharpen their knowledge about intervention with trauma survivors. We feature some of our outstanding faculty here.
